# Tor vendor search IL — Tires

**Illinois heavy-duty / Class 8 truck & trailer TIRE vendors and suppliers.**
One row per company, built by the **Tor Vendor Sourcing** agent
(`.claude/agents/tor-vendor-sourcing.md`).

- File: `tor-vendor-search-il.csv`
- Run: `2026-06-10-illinois-tire-sourcing`
- **66 vendors** — **55 new leads** + **11 already in the Hank/Nora base**
(flagged in the last column `Already In Hank Base`).
- Source data: `data/tor-vendors.json` → generated with `data/build-tor-csv.mjs`
  (`node data/build-tor-csv.mjs` regenerates the CSV).

## How it was built

Tor ran **free tools only** — built-in `WebSearch` to discover and `WebFetch`
to verify. **No Firecrawl / no paid scrapers.** Eleven Tor scouts fanned out
across Illinois (Chicago city, NW Cook/DuPage, SW Cook/Will, North IL/Rockford,
Fox Valley/Quad Cities, Central IL, Southern IL/Metro East), plus national
commercial-tire chains with IL branches, tire distributors/wholesalers, more
Chicagoland independents, and downstate gap cities.

**Evidence policy (important):** every row was verified by actually fetching the
vendor's own website (or, where their site blocked the fetcher, an authoritative
manufacturer commercial-dealer locator — Michelin/Goodyear/Bridgestone — noted
in `Verification Source`). No company, phone, address, or ZIP was invented. Any
field that couldn't be confirmed from a fetched page is `Unknown`. Vendors whose
sites were unreachable were **excluded** rather than guessed.

## Search tags used (the brief)

`#semi_truck_and_trailer_tires` · `#heavy_duty_truck_and_trailer_tires` ·
`#class_8_tires` · `#reefer_trailer_tires` · `#all_position_tires` — expanded in
the `Hank Search Tags` column to the existing tag vocabulary
(`#commercial_truck_tires #steer_tires #drive_tires #trailer_tires #otr_tires
#retread #mobile_tire_service` …).

## Columns (36)

Mirrors Nora's `illinois-supplier-database.csv` schema (so this file can be
merged into `illinois-vendor-master.csv` later), with `Nora`→`Tor` renamed and
**two added columns**: `Services` and `Already In Hank Base`.

identity: `Company Name, Website` · location: `Street Address, City, State,
ZIP Code, Phone Number, Distance From Chicago, Number Of Locations` · profile:
`Categories Sold, Brands Sold, Services` · commerce flags: `Open Product
Catalog, Product Categories Visible, Part Number Search, Cross Reference Search,
Pricing Visible, Inventory Visible, Availability Visible, Ecommerce Cart, Online
Ordering, Local Delivery Mentioned, Shipping Mentioned, API Available, EDI
Available` · directory: `VIPAR Member, HDA Member, Distributor Group` (= vendor
type), `Tier, Integration Score` · provenance: `Verification Source, Notes, Tor
Status, Tor Run, Hank Search Tags, Already In Hank Base`

Fields Tor doesn't verify from a storefront (Part Number / Cross Reference
search, Inventory/Availability, API/EDI, VIPAR/HDA, Tier, Integration Score,
Distance From Chicago) are left `Unknown`/blank — same convention as the
existing directory, ready for a later enrichment pass.

## Vendor types (`Distributor Group` column)

| type | count |
|---|---|
| Commercial Tire Dealer (incl. chains) | 35 |
| Mobile / Roadside Tire Service | 8 |
| Truck & Trailer Repair (tire service) | 7 |
| Tire Distributor / Wholesaler | 6 |
| OTR / Specialty Tire Dealer | 5 |
| Truck Stop Tire Service (Love's/Speedco, TA/Petro, STM at Pilot) | 3 |
| HD Parts Distributor (tires) | 2 |

## Caveats / next steps

- **Chains collapse to one row** (Pomp's = 17 IL sites, Cassidy ~16, Goodyear
CTSC = 7, Commercial Tire Services = 8, etc.); branch cities are noted in
`Number Of Locations` / `Notes`. Treat these as one company, many locations.
- **`Already In Hank Base = Yes` (11):** Wentworth, FleetPride, FleetPro Parts &
Tires, Truck Tire Express, Commercial Tire Services, Bauer Built, Pomp's,
Chicago Tire Inc, Southern Tire Mart, Stony Tire, US Tires — kept for
completeness, flagged so they aren't re-onboarded.
- Several real vendors were **excluded** because their sites blocked the free
fetcher (TLS/403/ECONNREFUSED) and no authoritative fallback existed — e.g.
Illinois Truck Tire Sales, A. Lopez Truck Tire, Meiborg, Scout's. These are
  re-visit candidates, not dead ends.
- To prioritize which to index next: filter `Already In Hank Base = No`, prefer
  rows with `Open Product Catalog = Yes` / `Ecommerce Cart = Yes` (machine-
harvestable), then verify a real Shopify/Woo feed before harvesting.
